Is your Scrum Team sleeping through their Sprints? Are they on autopilot or heading toward zombie scrum?
Here are 4 ways to keep them engaged:
1. Call out team members who recently contributed value. Acknowledging those who perform above average is not a bad thing as long as you do it equitably. In other words, if you weren’t recognized today, you can be tomorrow. Everyone enjoys earning positive attention from their peers.
2. Constantly remind the team of their purpose and the bigger picture. Pointing out the impact the team has on customers & stakeholders resets their determination.
3. Cultivate trust above everything. Ignore the fear that everyone needs constant oversight to ensure they are getting their jobs done. Team members need the freedom to work in the ways that they think will give them the best outcomes professionally & personally. This does mean that they will fail from time-to-time but that’s how we learn & improve.
4. Tie the team goals & objectives to larger goals & values within the company. Showing that the team is aligned with the entire organization inspires esprit de corps. This loyalty & passion for the larger enterprise will set your team up as an example for others to emulate.
