Rude People are the Worst

Rude people are the worst... and yet, we're all rude people sometimes.

Many people are frustrated by uncertainty and complexity in their jobs. I use Agile principles to provide clear and simple strategies so that you can win at work!

Rude people are the worst… and yet, we’re all rude people sometimes.

Rude people are late for things.

Rude people multi-task during meetings.

Rude people chew loudly on conference calls and don’t mute themselves.

Rude people say hurtful things.

Rude people cut us off mid-sentence.

Rude people ruin everything.

I am a rude person, and so are you.

Rude people fall largely into one of three groups:
80% have no idea they are being rude
15% realize it and apologize or correct it
5% are intentionally being rude

The problem lies with perception and the story we create around that perception. When we perceive someone being rude we have a tendency to jump to the conclusion that they are intentionally being rude. That is unlikely. We are often guilty of thinking the world revolves around us and while our world does, everyone else’s world revolves around them.

Give rude people the benefit of the doubt. You’ll be statistically more accurate and less likely to commit homicide… that’s a win-win!

Cheers,
Joe
