Many people are frustrated by uncertainty and complexity in their jobs. I use Agile principles to provide clear and simple strategies so that you can win at work!

Small wins are great, but don’t let the big win get away!

Agilists often talk about fostering team achievement by enabling small wins. That is certainly appropriate and absolutely a strategy to use as your teams learn and grow.

However, don’t overlook the Big Easy! Here are three keys to consider:

1. Teams typically have at least one large accomplishment in mind for the near term

2. Those goals typically are high priority and have wide-ranging support and buy-in from stakeholders

3. Teams can leverage this for greater access to external experts, better tooling support, and other helpful accommodations

Small wins should stay the norm, but not to the exclusion of the easy opportunities to leap ahead.

Put another way, if your team can hit the deep ball on one or two efforts each year you should encourage them to swing for the fences!

Cheers,
Joe
